If a guided self drive safari is not your cup of tea and there is a group of you wanting to explore East Africa, then we have the ideal solution: an overland truck safari.
Africa Expedition Support owns and operates a fleet of 21-26 seater custom built overland safari trucks fully equipped with tents, camping chairs, mattresses, an extensive kitchen; large fresh water and fuel storage capacity; coach seats, stereo, medical kit, fire extinguishers and large luggage storage space. You don’t need to have 21 friends or classmates to charter a safari truck, these vehicles are ideal for smaller groups also, allowing you more space to spread out.
We are based in East Africa and therefore are in the best position to assist in itinerary development and special requests for large groups requiring more than just transport in an overland truck.
Developing local safari itineraries in East Africa is what we do best
We have local information, contacts and know-how to assist in developing safari itineraries to suit your exact requirements. It does not matter whether you are a travel agent with a special request, a teacher looking to bring your class to Africa for community service, a collection of professionals looking to utilize your skills in the developing World, or a group of tourists with special interest in African wildlife and adventure activities. Travelling in a safari truck is the way to go.
The crew was fantastic. We could not say enough wonderful things about them.
They were both amazing the way they dealt with and interacted with the kids and we just found them both to be perfect for us. They became like part of our family by the end of the trip.
Here are a couple of examples of group charter safaris:
Family Overland Safari Tour: Nairobi to Cape Town
20 years ago a couple from Australia did an overland trip from Nairobi to Cape Town and absolutely loved it! 20 years later they wanted to re-live their experience but this time with their children and grandmother. As they had been to Africa previously they knew exactly what they wanted.
We worked together on a safari itinerary that took them to the Masai Masai National Reserve for game drives, Lake Naivasha for a walking safari and school visit, Lake Baringo for boat safari, Lake Nakuru National Park to see Rhino and visit a working farm, and finally Amboseli National Park.
We camped and cooked from the overland safari truck kitchen and spent 3 weeks travelling around Kenya.
Accommodated Group Charter Safari Tour: Uganda and Rwanda
A group from the United Kingdom asked a travel agent to organise an overland trip to Uganda and Rwanda so they could visit a charity they supported. The travel agent, not knowing much about Uganda or Rwanda, asked us to organise the overland itinerary and run the trip.
In addition to spending time at the charity, they also wanted to trek critically endangered Mountain Gorillas, visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and a day tour of Kigali. The group did not want to camp, although they wanted to travel in the overland safari truck and for us to supply all the meals.
We took care of all the arrangements from Gorilla trek permits, accommodation, meals and coordinating with the charity visits to various sites throughout Uganda and Rwanda. The group loved the accommodation we arranged in smaller family run hotels and lodges. They also really enjoyed the Mountain Gorillas and spending time at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
