Community Service Trips in Africa

Combine Service, Learning and Fun

Africa Expedition Support specialise in developing community service trips in Africa for schools and university groups that are educational, fun and rewarding. Over the years the team at Africa Expedition Support have worked tirelessly with several communities and local schools to seek out service opportunities that benefit everyone involved. Our service projects are more than just working in African communities. They provide opportunities to seek insight into village life in Africa and offer the chance to develop special bonds that overcome cultural and economic barriers.

A school group may have only a couple of weeks for community service trips in Africa and want to blend community service, working with local school children or building solar power systems, a few days on safari and maybe some beach time. We match your group request, timeframe, and skills with local opportunities to ensure the best possible community service experience to maximize development.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY…

Every detail of this trip was perfect: from our Swahili lessons, to the Napenda Solar project, incredible meals and exceptional safaris …It is a rarity in this day and age to find people who truly care about doing a job as well as it can be done, but you went above and beyond.

Here are some of the projects we offer on community service trips in Africa :

Napenda Solar Community in Kenya

Give a home or school clean sustainable green electricity. Learn about solar power, how it works and the benefits before designing, building and installing a stand alone solar power system in a poor rural home or school. Find out more about Napenda Solar Community.

Building lion proof fences

Protect Lions in Kenya

Together with the Born Free Foundation in Kenya work side by side local communities to construct lion proof fences around traditional Masai bomas (homesteads) to keep lions out and livestock in. This critical project helps to protect lions and guarantees their survival while living side by side human settlements.

Save Rhino in Uganda

Partnering with Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Uganda offers students a truly remarkable experience to be part of the team saving these critically endangered animals. Spend time with rangers documenting Rhino behaviour, support the anti-poaching team and assist in teaching local school children about wildlife conservation.

East Africa Clean Water Project

Water is precious. We all know that. Harvesting water in low rainfall areas is essential. We all know that. Over 80% of the population in East Africa do not have access to safe clean water. Be part of a lifesaving team working to reduce water-borne diseases by helping to install gutters and water tanks.

Building new desks for classrooms

Refurbish a School in East Africa

As most schools lack electricity and funds to paint the walls to allow for decent lighting help lift the studying conditions by painting the internal walls to brighten the classrooms or help build new desks and tables so school kids can study in comfort without having to cram several onto the one desk or donate books and start a much needed library.

Sports Field Construction Community Service

Everyone loves a game of soccer so give a poor school the ideal gift of a football field, help level the land, mark out the field, dig trenches and mark the lines and help construct the goal posts.

Save the East African Environment

Help a school or local community fight erosion and give soil a new lease of life by supplying and planting indigenous trees. Due to lack of cooking fuels and electricity many communities have had no choice but to cut down trees to provide this in their homes. Work side by side communities to plant and help educate communities on environmental issues.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY…

The trip was great value. The itinerary connected well with the community and had a significant impact providing experiences students will hold forever. The Project with the Born Free Foundation was one of the best projects I have seen.

The decision to bring a school group for community service trips in Africa is not one to be taken lightly. There are many factors to consider. Africa Expedition Support is based in Kenya. We have worked with school groups for many years. So we are in the perfect position to ensure your school trip goes ahead without a hitch.

Unique cultural experiences on our community service trips in Africa

Unique cultural experiences on our community service trips in Africa

In addition to running our own community service project for solar power, Napenda Solar Community, we realise that this is not always the perfect fit for every school or university group. So we still maintain strong bonds with Elders and school headmasters from other areas in East Africa. Together we work to identify areas of need and collect ideas for community service projects which are sustainable, achievable and economical within a local area.

Over the years we have taken hundreds of teenagers and young adults on a journey of discovery while working on community projects in Africa. These service programs provide life changing experiences to students and youth from all over the world.

To support your community service project, you may want to include things like Swahili lessons for your students and traditional meals with communities. These activities add to the richness of the experience.

We also believe there should be time to play. We will help you design community service itineraries that allow for adventure activities. It just would not be right to come to Africa and not go on safari for a few days or white water raft the Nile, chill on a tropical beach or hike to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro!
