World record attempt Cairo to Cape Town
We have been asked to support several world record attempts over the years however our most challenging was being asked to organise a world record attempt for a marathon runner from Cairo to Cape Town!
Travelling through Ethiopia is both challenging and rewarding, battling high altitude and limited amenities in rural areas. Of all countries between Cairo and Cape Town this is logistically one of the trickiest.
We set to task to determine the most direct route and gain permission from the relevant countries to allow us to cross at less used or restricted borders. Knowing what was possible we developed the day to day itinerary taking into account the weather at that time of year and terrain to be covered each day. As this was a world record attempt we had to consider how we would meet the Guinness Book of Records requirements.
We planned how the vehicle would be equipped with everything from camping and kitchen equipment to medical supplies; film and camera equipment. With everything set to go we are ready to embark on one of the most challenging adventures to date.
